Soil Pollution

Today in Science Lab, 3rd graders learned about watersheds.  Students participated in a variety of activities that encouraged them to think about preventing soil and water pollution.  Students learned about groundwater, run-off, and also that we share the environment with other people, plants, and animals.  We are so thankful for the beautiful world that God created for us to enjoy...let's all work together to keep it that way!

Uh oh...what happened to our river when a factory dumping waste was built upstream from the rest of our properties?

Oh no...look at the change to the run-off when pollution (red Kool-aid) was added to our soil!!!

Reaction Times

Our FPD 2nd graders have been learning a lot in their classrooms about all of our amazing body systems.  Isn't God's design so amazing?!

In Science Lab we took a closer look at the brain and the nervous system.  Students had a great time on Wednesday testing their reaction times, using rulers and meter sticks.  Enjoy a few pictures below of our time together.

Our First Chapel of the Year!

Today was our first chapel of the new school year! James Moore gave a wonderful devotion on friendship, based on the Bible story of the men who brought their friend to Jesus for healing. They cared so much about him that they even lowered him through the roof!

Mr. Moore challenged the children to be friends like these--friends who point others to Jesus and who lift each other up. It was a great afternoon!

3D Ear Models

Today in Science Lab, the 5th graders used funnels, sand, and graduated cylinders to experiment with how sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through the ear canal.  They also used sound waves produced by banging on metal cookie sheets to make rice "jump" on 3D ear drum models.

We discussed sounds in nature and human-generated noises.  The students had thoughtful conversations about noise pollution and its impact on an environment.   Great work today, 5th graders!
