The Incredible Water Cycle!

This week our FPD 4th graders took a closer look at the amazing water cycle!  They enjoyed participating in a water cycle simulation--a dice game called "The Incredible Journey."

We used pans, water, ice, and a hot plate to demonstrate the water cycle in our own FPD Science Lab.

The students also created their own water cycle models.  Visit the 4th grade hallway to see each student's "Water Cycle in a Baggy."

Let There Be LIGHT!

This week FPD 5th graders began their study of light.  They looked at light through prismatic glasses, measured the reflections of angles in the dark using flashlights, mirrors, and protractors, and played a tricky game of Tic-Tac-Reflect!  We also read a great Science devotion from the book Indescribable by Louis Giglio.
Genesis 1:3, "And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."

Surface Tension and the Scientific Method

The FPD 4th graders made some surprising discoveries Friday about surface tension and cohesion!  Just check out their amazed expressions when we added over 160 paperclips to a "full" glass of water!
