3D Ear Models

Today in Science Lab, the 5th graders used funnels, sand, and graduated cylinders to experiment with how sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through the ear canal.  They also used sound waves produced by banging on metal cookie sheets to make rice "jump" on 3D ear drum models.

We discussed sounds in nature and human-generated noises.  The students had thoughtful conversations about noise pollution and its impact on an environment.   Great work today, 5th graders!
