5th grade students continued their study of the Circulatory System by investigating blood today. They created a model of blood by adding various sweet treats to colored water (plasma) to represent the components of blood: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. They also did a color experiment to determine which blood types may donate to others and discovered why Type O blood is considered the universal donor blood type.
